あなたの研究テーマについて教えてください。What is your research theme?

25-61-01

My research theme is titled "Towards Human-like Data Efficient Language Learning". Current Large Language Models require huge amounts of data to learn a language, which restricts their applicability to only a small set of high-resource languages. My research aims to explore data-efficient methods for low-resource language learning by mimicking the human language acquisition process. I hope this research will contribute to making Large Language Models more effective tools for breaking down language barriers and fostering global communication.

なぜ博士課程へ進学しましたか?Why did you decide to pursue a doctoral program?

25-60-02

I chose to pursue a doctoral degree out of my deep passion for natural language processing, which began in high school when I was inspired by the cyberpunk animation Ghost in the Shell and was further strengthened through my undergraduate research experiences. This passion led me to NAIST for my master’s program, where I have greatly enjoyed the supportive environment and abundant opportunities for research. Motivated by this experience, I decided to continue the doctoral program in order to further explore unknown areas, challenge myself, and grow into a better researcher.

A PhD is a long journey where you learn as much about a subject as you learn about yourself. I recommend thinking deeply about your motivation before starting your PhD, and making sure your passion for the subject is strong enough to overcome the obstacles you will face during research.
