My research focuses on developing composition-tunable solid-solution metal electrodes to achieve low-resistance and thermally stable contacts for thin-film transistors (TFTs) and other oxide-based electronic devices. By controlling metal composition during thin-film deposition, I investigate how solid-solution formation can tailor work function, interfacial reactivity, and band alignment with amorphous oxide semiconductors. Using a combination of structural, chemical, and electrical characterization techniques, I analyze how multicomponent metal systems influence interface dipoles, oxygen bonding, carrier injection, and long-term device stability. Academically, this work advances the understanding of contact physics in oxide electronics by showing that solid-solution electrodes offer more flexible and continuous tuning of electronic properties than conventional single-metal or alloy electrodes. The findings contribute to the development of more efficient, reliable, and energy-saving electronic technologies—including next-generation TFTs, transparent and flexible devices, sensors, and low-power integrated systems that support modern digital society.
なぜ博士課程へ進学しましたか?Why did you decide to pursue a doctoral program?

I decided to pursue a doctoral program because the more I study science, the more I appreciate the depth, order, and beauty of the world, which I see as part of the creation of God. During my master’s research, I realized how much remains unexplored, and how each new experiment leads to deeper questions about materials, physics, and the natural laws that hold everything together. This curiosity made me want to understand these mechanisms more thoroughly instead of stopping at a surface-level explanation. I also discovered that creating something new, such as a new material, device concept, or scientific insight, feels meaningful because it connects human creativity with the structure already present in nature. A doctoral program provides the environment, time, and intellectual freedom that I need in order to explore these questions and to generate original contributions. Ultimately, I chose to continue to the PhD level because I want to grow both academically and personally, to understand more about the remarkable order in creation, and to use that understanding to develop innovations that can benefit society.

For anyone considering a doctoral program, I believe it is a truly valuable opportunity for both personal and academic growth. A PhD is not only about earning a degree but about entering a period where you can explore ideas deeply, develop original insights, and understand the world in a more meaningful way. If you are thinking about this path, I recommend taking some time to reflect on what motivates you, what questions you genuinely want to explore, and what kind of challenges you are ready to face. Talk with professors, visit laboratories, and try small research projects to understand what inspires you. A doctoral program can be demanding, but it also offers the freedom, support, and environment to discover your strengths and create something that may contribute to society. If you approach it with curiosity and commitment, it can become one of the most rewarding journeys in your life.
