あなたの研究テーマについて教えてください。What is your research theme?

My research focuses on how roots in Arabidopsis thaliana repair themselves after damage. Plants have an impressive ability to coordinate signals between their cells to rebuild tissues. To understand how this communication works, my study investigates how plant hormone signals stimulate nearby cells to divide and replace those that have died. I hope this research will contribute to future efforts to develop crops that are more stress-resistant and capable of self-repair, improving their survival under challenging environmental conditions.

なぜ博士課程へ進学しましたか？Why did you decide to pursue a doctoral program?

I decided to pursue a doctoral program because the results from my master’s research inspired me to continue exploring fundamental biological questions and to contribute new knowledge to the field. I truly enjoy experimental work and the process of uncovering how plants regenerate and respond to damage. I am particularly motivated to study plant regeneration because a deeper understanding of these mechanisms could help improve the resilience of plants that are difficult to grow or at risk of extinction, and could also support sustainable agriculture in the face of climate change. Through my doctoral research, I hope to generate insights that contribute both to basic science and to the conservation of plant biodiversity.
