あなたの研究テーマについて教えてください。What is your research theme?

The research theme, titled "Bridging the Gap: Evaluating and Enhancing AI Capabilities in Code Review Processes," focuses on advancing the integration of AI-powered tools in software engineering, particularly in code review. The study investigates the current usage and impact of AI-powered code review bots, such as GitHub Copilot, by analyzing their effectiveness in improving efficiency, developer satisfaction, and code quality. It identifies critical gaps in these tools, including limitations in handling complex code scenarios and understanding project-specific contexts. Building on this analysis, the research develops a novel AI-powered bot leveraging advanced language models and context-aware algorithms to address these shortcomings.
Academically, the research significantly advances the field of software engineering by enhancing understanding of AI's role in streamlining development processes and setting new standards for intelligent, adaptable tools. The societal impact of this work is substantial: developers benefit from reduced time and effort in code reviews, enabling them to focus on innovation, while software companies achieve faster development cycles and higher-quality outputs. Ultimately, the research contributes to improving the reliability and security of software systems, aligning with global efforts to enhance digital transformation and AI adoption.
なぜ博士課程へ進学しましたか?Why did you decide to pursue a doctoral program?

My decision to pursue a doctoral program was shaped by the experiences and insights I gained during my master’s studies. My master’s study explored the intersection of social media and open-source funding. This work allowed me to contribute findings to the field, such as demonstrating the positive effects of social media engagement on sponsorship acquisition for open-source developers. Through this process, I developed a strong passion for investigating how technology and human interactions influence the sustainability and growth of software systems. However, it became evident to me that a master's program, while providing foundational knowledge and research experience, offered limited opportunities for delving deeper into the open questions in this field.
A pivotal moment in my journey was the opportunity to have a two-month research internship at the University of Melbourne. This experience was memorable, as I collaborated with experts in software engineering and refined my research methodologies under their guidance. Additionally, I attended the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), a top conference in my field, where I engaged with top researchers from all over the world. These experiences broadened my perspective on the global challenges and innovations in software engineering, and further strengthened my resolve to pursue a PhD.
